This was the 1st time we were able to go to Temple Square as a family. Madison has always wanted to go but we have either been sick or had other plans, so we were excited to finally go this year. Madison's favorite part was seeing the "Christus" and being able to hear Jesus speak. She was so quiet and was so excited to hear his voice. Such a wonderful experience to be able to share with my daughter.

Christmas Lights at Temple Square were spectacular as usual, we had a great time walking around the grounds of the temple and looking at the different nativities that were there. We sipped Hot Chocolate and snuggled in our blankets. What a great day!!

This was an interesting nativity that I really liked.

Madison really liked this nativity, she said it reminded her of Mulan.

I can't remember where this nativity was from but Madison was having a really good time.

This was a beautiful christmas tree that was inside the Joseph Smith memorial building. We went in to the restaurant there to have hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll. This tree reminds me so much of my Grandma Taylor!! Enjoy!!

Mom's Little Getaway

I had the opportunity to attend the TAG Symposium for the Family Support Program for the Army National Guard in November. I was able to spend 2 days in an amazing hotel in Snowbird. What an amazing little getaway.

What an adventure. This is the 1st time in many years that I was able to get away on my own. So very much needed and appreciated. Mom really needed and little R & R.

We are so proud of our SOLDIER!! Sterling's name was added to the Veterans Memorial in Mapleton at the City Park this morning. We love you so much and are so proud of you!!

Sterling had the chance to go Deer Hunting with his youngest brother, Kevin this weekend. He found this 2 year old 2x3 buck and we are happy to say that we will be eating deer for the rest of the winter. I really am not a huge fan but hopefully I can learn some tricks.

Sterling was so grateful for the time he was able to spend with his brother and I am glad they had a great time.

Update on The Wilkey's

Labor Day Weekend was the Lowder Family Reunion in Parowan Utah. It was so much fun to get together with our family, share stories, pictures and just chill. We had the chance to take Madison to "The Gap" it is an area in Parowan that has petroglyphs. It was really fun to explain to Madison that people drew on the mountains and told stories that way. She was so excited she wanted to come home and draw on everything!! Luckly, my walls are still ok.

While at the family reunion we had the chance to learn more about our family history by visiting the Lowder Ranger Station. There wasn't a lot left after all the years but it was sure interesting to learn more about our heritage!!

Sterling is always having way too much fun without me while on his Guard Weekends!!

It just isn't fair!

Sterling was asked to be apart of the 9/11 Memorial in Sandy. It was such a great experience and I am so proud that he was able to be apart of the Healing Field and I am so grateful to him for his service and undoubtable love for his family and country. I am so grateful that he was able to serve in Iraq and that he was able to come home safe to me and our family. I honor him and appreciate him for all that he does!! Love you sweetheart!

What can I say??? I have a beautiful daughter whom I love more than anything in the entire world. She is my light, my love, my angel and my soul. She is the reason life is worth living. I am so grateful to have her and I am honored to be apart of her life. Love you Maddie Moo Moo!!

AMAZING!! They do such a great job with Madi and

I am so glad we were able to get her into their program!!

Bumble Bees!! Madi decided in early spring this year to

plant SUNFLOWERS! They are beautiful but I really don't

care for the bees that come with them. Our entire family

is allergic to bees to we try so hard to stay away from them.

Madi is obsessed with Back To The Future! We were walking around at a

Car Show in Parowan when we saw the "Marty McFly Car!!"

We were able to go to several carnivals during the summer and enjoyed

being together as a family and also enjoyed watching Madi enjoy the rides.

So, Madison got a V Tech digital camera from Santa for Christmas. She was walking around all day taking pictures of everything and anything. Door knobs, butts, the floor, anything. I was able to get a couple of the that turned out the best. I loved them so much I just had to share.

Iris Gladden Brown

July 15, 1937 ~ November 7, 2010

Our beloved Grandma Iris Brown passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. When we moved to Utah County in 1994 and began to build our home in Mapleton, Iris and her husband Al became our instant friends. Over the next couple of years while our house was being built we began to grow closer and closer to them. In January of 1996 we lost our Great Grandma Mower (dads moms mother), 2 weeks later we lost our dog Cinnamon who was hit by a car, and a couple days after that we lost our Grandma Stapley (moms mother). To say the least January 1996 wasn't our best month. Alot of hardship and alot of sadness. In 1996 alone we attended 15 family members funerals.

Iris and Al adopted Kanyon and I as grandchildren and treated us just like we belonged their family all along. We shared birthdays, christmas and all other holidays. In 1999 we lost Al suddenly and that broke our hearts. Though we had known him only a short time, he left lasting impressions on us. We continued to involve Iris in all that we did over the years and she was always there for us. By her side at all times was her trustly companion, Boomer, a curious little kitty that won the hearts of all that knew him.

Over the years Iris was always there. She was there the day I got my drivers license. She took me out for the 1st time driving in her brand new car. She was there as I walked to receive my diploma when I graduated High School and College. She was there when on a beautiful January day when I received my endowments in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple. She was there when I introduced her to the love of my life, and gave me the approval to get married. She was there in the bridal room of the Manti Temple as I prepared to be married to my eternal companion Sterling. She was there as Sterling and I were sealed for time and all eternity to eachother. She was there with Janice and Jane at the book greeting everyone at my reception.

She was there when Sterling and I announced that we were expecting. We thought from early on that it was a boy, but Iris told us that we would be surprised. She was there laughing when I showed her the ultrasound stating "Its A Girl." She was there waiting patiently for the arrival of Madison. She was there the night Madi was born to hug and kiss her. She even asked if Madi would fit in her purse so she could take her home with her. She was there as we blessed Madison. Over the last 4 years of Madi's life she has been there for every birthday party, every Christmas morning and every milestone and accomplishment in her life. I am so grateful that I was given this rare gift of being a Granddaughter of this wonderful woman. I only hope that I can live my life so everyday she can be proud of me.

Really Struggling Today

I am really having a hard time today and really don't know why. As all of you know Sterling and I have been trying to have another baby for a couple years now with no success. We also have joined LDS Adoption Services as well as 4 other agencies. We are also Foster Parents but still haven't had a placement.

Today I have been very discouraged with this entire situation in general. I have friends that are complaining that they are wanting baby #4 or 5 and something isn't working with them, or complaining about being miserable and pregnant and can't wait until they aren't pregnant anymore. I am really struggling with this. We are doing everything in our power to complete our family and with all these road blocks I am beginning to become very frustrated.

I know I should be thankful for the daughter that I have and believe me I AM!! I just feel as though my family isn't complete and I can't stop looking for a friend for Madi. I am not asking to have 4 kids by any means or a dozen. I am asking for 1, someone for her to play with, grow up with and have a sibling. When her Dad and I are gone I don't want her to be alone.

I feel so much better that I was able to vent!! Thanks!!

IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR US WE ARE ALL EARS. ALSO, IF EVERYONE COULD SPREAD THE WORD THAT WE ARE TRYING TO ADOPT THAT WOULD PROBABLY HELP US!! :0)

Madi's Bee Sting

Poor Baby Girl!! We were getting ready for Sterling's Birthday Party and waiting for everyone to arrive. She was outside on her swingset and all of the sudden started screaming. She got stung right on the ridge of her nose and within a few minutes this is what happened. We were able to get her into the InstaCare, thank heavens. Nothing very serious, although they did inform me that children under the age of 5 need to be seen if they are EVER stung on the face. I am glad I went with my motherly instinct and took her. She is miserable, but not complaining. She is swollen and looks horrible, it is spreading to the other eye tonight. They sent me home with a steroid to give her for the next few days. They also want me to continue giving her benadryl. This is exactly what Sterling looks like when he gets stung. I just hope and pray my baby girl gets better soon !! :0)

VALENTINES DAY CELEBRATION

VALENTINES DAY this year had to come a few days early because of what I gave Sterling. This year I was trying to come up with something fun for the entire family, not something really romantic this year. So, this morning I made heart shaped pink pancakes, pink scrambled eggs, heart shaped sausage patties, and strawberry milk. They were so surprised and it was a great morning. Inside Sterlings card I gave him tickets for the 3 of us to go to Monster Jam tomorrow afternoon at the Energy Solutions Arena. We will be taking Trax, or as Madi calls it the Choo Choo, having lunch at the Gateway then going to see the Monster Trucks. It is going to be so much fun. In Madi's card she got 3 tickets to Disney On Ice that will be at the Energy Solutions in March. I really didn't do anything for myself, but thank heavens for the National Guard and their ticket office for making it possible for us to do all these fun things as a family. I guess our other Valentines Day Family Surprise is March 3-8 we will be in DISNEYLAND and being with KANYON at Seal Beach for the COMMISSIONING CEREMONY for his new NAVAL SHIP. We are SOOO EXCITED!!

Feeding the ducks is something I remember doing as a kid with my mom and dad. While I was recovering last week my mom took Madi and I for an outing down to the pond in Springville to feed the ducks. It was so much fun watching Madison. She was so entertaining. She was throwing the biggest pieces and laughing as the large white duck was being chased by the other ducks because he got all the bread. Then she would get angry that they weren't sharing so she would throw bread at them.

I can't even believe how fast time is flying. I am back in school again, luckly this is my senior year! Horray! Sterling is in Germany, and Madi is growing like a weed. I have been catching up on unfinished projects lately and have been looking and working on Madi's scrapbook. I am so far behind I can't even believe it. Fourth Of July with Kanyon

So Kanyon was able to come home for the Fourth Of July weekend from Mississippi. It was awesome! On Friday we went to Utah Lake and went Jetskiing. We got burnt, fried, or roasted! It was so worth it though. It was great to have him home and be able to spend time with him! Saturday we went to Provo and watched the Fireworks. Mostly we just relaxed and talked but it was AWESOME!

I cannot stress enough the importance of helmets! The car next to me in Springville hit a boy riding his bike. I am not sure if the boy is going to make it through the night. It wasn't looking good on scene. Anyways, I don't care if you are in your driveway or down the street with your friends, WEAR YOUR HELMET! It could have saved his life!

While driving home from San Diego, we stopped to admire the temple. What a beautiful sight. It was in the weirdest spot, just off the freeway. I mean you go down the off ramp and you are there. Weird Huh? While sitting on the lawn we sang with Madi:

" I love to see the Temple."

Well we are back! We got back a little over 1 weeks ago and so wished that time with Kanyon was just a little longer. We had a blast. We hit SeaWorld, LegoLand, and the Beach. We had a good time.

Madi was so happy to see her Kanyon. He looked so good! We played for several days then it was time for him to go again. Off to Mississippi.

Off to San Diego

Well schools out and we are off to visit Kanyon in fabulous SAN DIEGO! This will be our 1st real family vacation, just the three of us, and we are so in need of a little R&R. We will be hitting Legoland, SeaWorld, and possibly the San Diego Zoo. We will be back on the 5th so until then.....Wish you were with us!! Ha Ha , just kidding.

Well I made it. I am finally done with spring semester but now comes the stress!! I am now starting my two weeks of finals. I have 8 to take by the 29th! It is a test every other day, so I am trying to keep from doing what it says under the cat! Haha.

I can't wait for the 30th though, we are going to San Diego to see Kanyon before he leaves for Mississippi. This will be a much needed break and dare I say Vacation. We really need to just relax.

Like Madi says after watching Finding Nemo: "Just keep swimming Mommy!"

Well, Finals are only 2 weeks away and I am another step closer to my DREAM JOB! School is going Great! I am just finishing up my Junior Year at UVU and with Straight A's !! Even though CSI is just a TV show, I love it. I am getting Season 9 for my birthday, but I have to wait for it to come out in September. Anyways, I am one step closer to being a FORENSIC CHEMIST! I am applying for Fall semester and this is when all the fun really begins. For the past few semesters all I have been able to do is work on pre-reqs for the classes. Now that I am done with those, Horray!, it is now time to begin all the good stuff. I am enrolled in Trace Anaylsis Labs, DNA profiling, Finger Print Analysis, Footwear Impressions, and Cyber Crime. I can't wait. Fall semester is going to ROCK! I am right on track to GRADUATE next year with my double Bachelors Degree in Science, but I am thinking I might take an extra semester or two and take somemore Masters programs while I am on a roll, plus the more expirence I have the better. What a Workout!?!

WOW What a Workout!?! I decided to get some "Study Time" in I would take Madi to Jumping Jacks and let her do her thing. How exhausting! Not only did I not get any study time in, I ran all over the place trying to keep up with her. It's almost like when you enter the front door at these places, these kids get a burst of energy from nowhere. 2 full hours and I bet I burned at least 1000 calories. Oh well, It was a blast. She had fun and I did too.

My New Addiction

So I finally took some time for myself and finished reading the "Twilight" series. Then as an added treat to myself, because I couldn't put the books down, I got the movie. This is totally my new addition. I loved it. What an amazing book and movie. I'm not sure that Sterling was that into it, but he also didn't read the books. But for me it is just what I need to take a break from reality, school, chores, and of course laundry, and get captivated by something so entertaining. I've never been real big into the whole "Fantasy" thing, I prefer real life and history, but WOW! what a blast to read. Then today I was able to relax and watch the movie. Again, WOW! You are just so fasinated and indepth in the movie you forget about everything else going on. Just what I needed today. Want to pamper yourself for the day?.............Read the books then watch the movie, it keeps you coming back for more. I can't wait for the next movie!

The Zoo and Living Planet Aquarium

We went to the Living Planet Aquarium. It was so exciting to see Madi knowing what the different creatures were.

She loved the Octopus.

Madi kept getting mad at the fish for not kissing the glass like she was.

We went to the Zoo with Sophie, the little girl that I babysit during the week. We went with Sterling's family while they were here from Idaho. It was so much fun. Madi liked seeing the characters from Madagascar.

Sterling and I met December 10, 2005 at an Nat'l Guard party. Sterling just returned from a tour in Iraq and was anxious to meet me! We were engaged January 5th. We didn't waste any time and got married and then Madi came not too long after. I married my Best Friend and we are so in love!
